Womanthology Signing at Acme Comics and Bennett College Panel!

Hello fellow readers and contributors. I'm Nicole Sixx, a dedicated member of our Social Networking team and now our official Events Correspondent. As such it my great honor to bring to you coverage of all our latest Womanthology events, beginning with Janet Lee, Chrissie Zullo, and Ming Doyle's signing at Acme Comics and panel at Bennett College.

"It is hard to pick a favorite part; we got to sign at the store (Acme) and meet a lot of people who are exctied about the release of Womanthology. We also spoke at Bennett College about the importance of females in today's comic book industry, and answered a Q&A from the audience. Hello everyone! Happy Valentine's Day!! :)

We decided put together a fun new book for you all to download for Valentine's Day!! This in thanks once again of all the support and love we've gotten from everyone of Womanthology, from both Kickstarter Backers and to everyone else who have been there along the way. So this is available for everyone!

This 30+ page special consists of current Womanthology contributors and some new ones. :) I also felt it would be fun to welcome any interested men to join in the fun this time. They've all been so supportive of Womanthology and women in comics this entire time, I felt they could further show their support with their talents for Valentines if they're so interested :) Also watch out for couples working together! So sweet!

Hello Everyone! :)

Hope the Holidays were fantastic for everyone!

A few tidbits of stuff!

Womanthology Release Date: I've just been informed to expect delays for the release date due to printing issues. But as the book is out of my hands, the exact date hasn't been made known to me yet, but once I do know I'll update everyone. The estimate given to me was that it had to be moved from the Late January date to a very early March one (so a little over a month delay). I've been told as the books continue to print and further delays are out of the question, we'll then have the more certain date for it's release. Kickstarter Backers will be getting their own update, but theirs will be shipped a couple weeks earlier.

Womanthology is a beast of a book that is unlike any other, so there were a lot of fun twists and turns and challenges to get it ready, and everyone involved (including the amazing team at IDW who have been tirelessly preparing it for print) have been working nonstop to make it happen, and this delay is not the cause of anyone, just an unfortunate happening. I personally just cannot wait to finally hold the book in my hands!! On the bright side, if it is indeed released in early March, it'll coincide with Women's History Month :) So destiny maybe?

Comic Stores - I've been made aware that some of you amazing stores out there already set up signings with contributors of Womanthology for an Early February release date. First of all, you are absolutely amazing for supporting female creators like this, it means a lot to all involved!! Secondly, if you need to reschedule due to the delay, we want to make it as easy as possible for you. So please contact our Public Events Coordinator Rachel Pandich (who is also a writer for Womanthology! :) ) Her email is radeph@gmail.com She can help you work with contributors to reschedule, and anything else we can help with!

Special "BookPlate" for Stores - In case you don't know what the "Book Plate" is, I made a special insert page that was hand numbered and signed, then bound with the rest of the pages into Kickstarter/Contributor/Library copies only (you can see the image HERE). I have a limited number of extra pages, so I thought it would be nice to offer those to stores who may have set up signings for Womanthology creators :) Meaning, if you have set up a signing already and have to reschedule OR are thinking of setting up a Womanthology signing, I'd like to offer to send you a couple of these pages signed by me and personalized for your store. You could then have the ladies at your signing autograph it for you to keep, or even offer them to your Womanthology pre-order customers to make up in a small way for the delay. I only have limited number of these, but you can contact Rachel Pandich at radeph@gmail.com if you are interested! Again I know it's not much, but I and all involved really do care and appreciate your support of Womanthology and female creators in general. :) So THANK YOU!

Rewards - Again I have another update coming for backers, but in general most of the rewards are fulfilled ( not counting books, as they're not released yet). There's still a few that are taking more time, but we're still on it! :) I'll have a full breakdown available for Kickstarter Backers!

Womanthology ladies at Conventions! - Yep, we're everywhere this year! I'll be making a page soon to display what conventions everyone will be at so you can go and support your favorite contributor is you are so interested! Also I'll be at Wonder Con in mid March with Assistant Project Manager Laura Morley, who's flying in from the UK :) So that will be a fun one too!

Womanthology Challenge - Just a little thing.... if anyone manages to get their copy signed by ALL the Womanthology contributors, I'll not only be insanely impressed, but I'll come up with some kind of prize :) There's 169 ladies involved (of which a true list is underway for the public) so it'll be quite an amazing thing to accomplish!

Hello everyone! :D Happy Holidays!

The 50 page digital book Womanthology: Holiday is now available for download for Kickstarter Backers! Please go check out Backer Only Update #10 for your instructions on how to get it! :)

Thanks to the over 50 women who contributed to it! Not only did they want to provide something nice and fun for our awesome supporters, but they also worked on an extremely tight deadline of only a couple days! Well done ladies, and thank you so much!

Book Plate artwork for Womanthology Kickstarter Copies!

Below is the artwork intended to be a hand numbered book plate that will be inserted into the Kickstarter copies of Womanthology: Heroic! These will only be available in the Kickstarter, Contributor and Library copies! Please note that it says "signed" but hand signature is tentative based on if we can make it work! :)

Womanthology Book Preview!

So here it is! After so much hard work from everyone involved, and so many challenges and triumphs, here we have a Preview of some pages from the Womanthology book!

I will soon have an exact date of release for everyone, as well as other details, very soon! But for now, for those of you who didn't get their copy via Kickstarter , you can order your copy through these other methods (note, only Kickstarter copies are hand numbered!) Backers, please keep an eye out for an upcoming Update via the Kickstarter regarding more information on rewards and book release!

What's new on Womanthology?

Hey all! All of us on the book are hard at work just now putting the finishing touches on our comics and features, before we move into the final production stage on Womanthology. Exciting times, but of course we're all very busy: while we're working, you can take a sneak peek at our stuff via our DeviantArt, Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter pages. The amazing experience of this month...

Hey everyone :)

The Womanthology Kickstarter is drawing to a close, with 8 days left. By forces unknown that I can only barely begin to comprehend, we have (at the time of me typing this) reached an insane $72,000.

The first day of our campaign we reached our goal of $25,000. The reality of this is still pretty mind boggling to me. You must understand I had *no* idea it was going to happen the way it did! Even with the weeks I took planning and preparing, I thought it would be a long hard climb to our reach our colussus sized funding goal. So when I first hit that "Launch" button, my biggest hope for the first day was to get to $1,000. So imagine me, dancing around like a giddy idiot when we hit $200 in the first 15 minutes, then fast forward half a day later to my husband and I standing in front of the computer, mouths agape in stunned silence, watching the total funding reach $15,000 in mere hours. Hours! I still don't quite totally comprehend how it happened.

Since then began a flurry of work to upkeep such a massively successful campaign. Work that I expected to come in slowly over the 30 day fundraising period. So many questions, organizing of rewards, emails, among other things, swarmed in on that first day that my head was spinning. Taking care of a large Kickstarter could easily be a full time job, and I also have a full time art job as well as Womanthology production details! If it wasn't for the *AMAZING* Laura Morley (who is also the amazing narrator of the Kickstarter video!) taking care of the Kickstarter, answering questions, organizing all the rewards, my head may have exploded by now (which can be quite messy) so thank you Laura you are so wonderful, and without you, things wouldn't be happening! :) But yes, I've been very busy. So please forgive the lack of updates and any unanswered emails. It's been a liiiittle nuts!

We are going to be able to do much with this money, and I cannot thank everyone enough for what they've done. Womanthology is officially the most successful comics project on Kickstarter, and one of the most successful Kickstarters period. How amazing is it that a comic book, full of female creator owned work, has gotten such wonderful support?

We are going to be able to do so much with this money, and I intend to wring every ounce of opportunity and good for other people out of it. I have extra plans for the Womanthology book as well as for the ladies contributing, and other future ideas that will help more aspiring creatives everywhere. I can do all of what I have in mind if we can reach around $100,000. So here's hoping we can end STRONG! :)

So just thanks, to everyone, for the amazingness that is you people who have supported us from the very beginning tweet, where I asked timidly "Do any women want to work on an anthology together for Charity?" and to the women on the book who constantly amaze me with their talent and passion for comics. You are awesome!

Who we are

Womanthology is an anthology graphic novel created entirely by women for Charity. The purpose of the book is to showcase the works of female creators of every age and experience levels.

The Graphic Novel will majorly consist of many short stories interpreting our theme for this volume; "Heroic". We'll also have interviews and how-to's with some of the industry's top female pros, as well as talks with young girls who someday want a career in comics.

We will be published, and will be raising all the printing costs for the project through Kickstarter.com. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available! :)
